What Is Heat Resisting Concrete?
- Heat-resisting concrete is a special type of concrete that is used in high-temperature conditions. It is also known as Refractory concrete.
- The content of heat-resisting concrete is the presence of high alumina cement or calcium aluminates cement.
- When we don’t use the normal concrete due to the high temperature, then only we can use this type of concrete because that particular condition normal concrete will suffer from the physical property and mechanical property.
- Generally, heat-resisting concrete is used in chimney construction due to the high temperature.
Reinforcement in Heat Resistant Concrete:
- When we are applying the steel bars in the heat-resisting concrete, then we need to special care or supervising to lay those bars because it is exposed to high temperature.
- Due to the high-temperature environmental condition of the concrete, the internal bond between the steel and concrete gets loose, and there is a slight chance of melting the steel at that high temperature.
- Due to different expansion of concrete and steel in high temperature, cracks are developed, so in this position, heat-resisting concrete is the best option.
- At higher temperatures (more than 300 degrees Celsius), declination of the bond between the concrete and steel may occur.
- If the temperature increases more, then the reinforcement property will change, and it starts melting.

There are many properties of heat-resisting concrete, those are-
- The heel resisting concrete has good compressive strength.
- Without any disintegration, heat-resisting concrete can bear high temperatures.
- In another hand, heat-resisting concrete also has good tensile strength.
- In heat-resisting concrete, there is less amount of shrinkage will occur compared to normal concrete.
- The specific gravity o heat-resisting concrete is between the range of 0 to 3.
- The heat of hydration of heat-resisting concrete is very less.
Application of Heat Resistant Concrete:
There are so many applications are available of heat resistant concrete-
- The chimney construction is done by heat-resisting concrete.
- In the rocket launching station, we use heat resistant concrete.
- Heat resistant concrete is widely used in fire training areas and also used in fire-resistant rooms.
- Another application of heat-resisting concrete is in runway pavement; it is also used in those pavements where it is subjected to high temperatures.
- Heat resistant concrete is also used in nuclear reactors, which are subjected to high temperatures.

- Heat resistance concrete is not airing tighten and has not had good integrity.
