Introduction Hollow Block
Typically, Hollow Block is a type of concrete block used to build interior and exterior walls. Empty concrete block saves time in building walls due to its large size. Due to its load capacity, Hollow Block plays an important role in the construction industry.
Hollow Block are made using a mold and a suitable addition depending on your location and your project. It is believed that concrete blocks are one of the most popular building materials used in the construction industry almost everywhere. Cement is used to fasten parts to produce strong, durable blocks.
Hollow Blocks replace ordinary bricks and stones in building construction. They are lighter than bricks, easier to lay and more economical in cost and use of cement. Compared to conventional bricks, they offer the same quality benefits, faster construction speed, lower labor involvement and longer durability. Because of these benefits, Hollow Blocks are even more widely used in construction projects.
Hollow Concrete Block
- Hollow concrete blocks are ordinary square rectangular blocks are made of concrete made of high or low volume. In very dense blocks, Portland cement and composite, usually sand and fine stones are used as raw material. In low density blocks, industrial debris, such as fly ash or ground ash is used as the first material and is often referred to as cinder / breeze blocks in different parts of the world.
- According to the definition provided in ‘Indian Standard – IS 2185 (Part 1) 2005’, hollow concrete blocks with one or more large holes or holes that pass through a block (open hole) or do not successfully pass a block (closed hole) and have solid objects between 50 and no. -75% of the total volume of the block calculated in total size. These holes or holes reduce the total area of the block area which is why the weight of the block structure is total.
- Hollow concrete blocks are widely used in stone construction. It speeds up the construction process, saves cement and steel and reduces labor costs on the construction site. This blockade reduces the natural weight of the stone structure and improves the physical properties of the walls, such as noise and thermal insulation. They also provide drainage, water pipes, and soil.

Safety Measures That Should Be Taken When Using Hollow Concrete Block
- If green blocks heal at a normal temperature of 20 ℃ to 37 ℃, they should be stored for 28 days before use.
- The moisture content associated with the blocks during shipping should be strictly controlled within the normal range.
- Take precautionary measures when stored in a construction site.
- In terms of power level, it is divided into a load-bearing block, a load-bearing block, a load-bearing block level of the frequency is above MU7.5.
Advantage of Hollow Concrete Block
- There are various different types of Advantage that we can get while using hollow concrete blocks in construction some of which are given below.
- If we use hollow concrete blocks in construction, we can get Faster Performance and Rapid execution of work.
- Empty concrete block is the same size and size and weighs less. This helps to speed up the process.
- If we use hollow concrete blocks in construction, we can increase floor area.
- It is possible to build small walls using empty blocks. So it helps to save space and increase the floor space.
- If we use hollow concrete blocks in construction, we can reduce Construction Costs.
- Hollow block helps save building materials so the use of a blank block reduces construction costs.
- The use of a large size block reduces the number of joints in the work which is why it helps save mud.
- If we use hollow concrete blocks in construction, we can improve insulation properties.
- Empty concrete block has excellent noise, heat and moisture protection properties.
- If we use hollow concrete blocks in construction, we can make the building more durable and Long lasting.
- Empty concrete construction can safely withstand air action and does not require a protective cover.
- If we use hollow concrete blocks in construction, we can hireunskilled Workers for construction.
- Skilled workers can also be used in the construction of hollow concrete.
- If we use hollow concrete blocks in construction, we can get good combination of Mortar & Plaster.
- The presence of rough surfaces of concrete blocks provides good sealing of mud and cement.
Disadvantage of Hollow Concrete Block
- There are various different types of disadvantage that we can get while using hollow concrete blocks in construction some of which are given below.
- Hollowconcrete blocks have a bad load capacity because the total weight of the wall decoration material is reduced, and the load capacity is also reduced.
- Hollowconcrete blocks is very dangerous to hang heavy objects on such walls.
- Hollowconcrete blocks have a bad load capacity because the total weight of the wall decoration material is reduced, and the load capacity is also reduced. It is very dangerous to hang heavy objects on such walls.
- Although hollowconcrete blocks are ideal for the environment with many advantages, few people use empty blocks that are environmentally friendly in the construction process because empty blocks of environment are also flawed.
- First, the gross disadvantages of empty blocks conserve the environment for poor carrying capacity. Because of the total weight of wall-mounted decorative items such as empty blocks of nature, the load capacity is similarly reduced. It is very dangerous to hang heavy objects on such walls.
- Even if it is filled with empty, environmentally friendly blocks, it is not recommended to place too much material or to hang heavy objects after installing wooden shelf racks. If you need to hang a wall-mounted TV, you can do partial grouting on a blank block to increase the load-bearing capacity of a blank natural block.

Hollow Concrete Wall
- The construction of stone walls works better with bare blocks than solid clay blocks because of their large size. Certain types of blank block are also environmentally friendly and less expensive because they can be made from the remnants of industrial waste. Hollow concrete blocks are widely used in the construction of projects such as load-bearing walls or load-bearing walls.
- Unconfirmed stone structures must be carefully constructed to withstand earthquakes; the structures are at high risk for earthquakes due to their low strength and shear strength, poor rock solidity (URHM) and other problems.
- However, the shaving power in the plane of masonry shear walls does not increase as the bond strength increases. Many researchers have suggested strategies to strengthen the reorganization of URHM.
- Existing reinforcing schemes can be divided into two main categories: reinforced stone construction (RHM) and external or internal reinforcement with reinforced fiber polymer (FRP) with bonded steel, FRP bars, or other materials.
- The first, the internal reinforcement method, is often used for new stone construction; the latter, an external reinforcement method, is commonly used to reinforce or repair existing structures.
- The main disadvantages of these latter include the toxicity and illegal fire resistance of the binding material and the difficulty and high cost of constructing the pension fund.
Hollow Block Construction
- In order to use Hollow blocks in construction, the height and length of the wall must be properly adjusted so that you can use one block or half-length blocks.
- The blocks are available in standard face sizes of 440 x 215 mm and dimensions of 140 mm and 215 at standard ends (ready for shipment).
- Empty blocks can be used in load-bearing buildings, low living quarters, office buildings, bungalows, rural housing shelters, tall buildings, institution buildings, warehouses, etc.
- It is used in structures such as high-rise apartments, office buildings, market yards, hospitals, and hotels, etc.
- These types of concrete blocks are used as low-level units such as sidewalks, backyards, interlocking blocks of traffic such as keyboards, showrooms, petrol stations, bus and train stations, and so on.
- Also, it is used in some utility areas such as roadblocks and backyard gardens.
Size of Hollow Blocks
- Some of the standard sizes o hollow blocks are given below.
- 39 cm x 19 cm 30 cm: Normal size of hollow concrete blocks.
- 39 cm x 19 cm x 20 cm: Hollow blocks used in building construction.
- As well as 39 cm x 19 cm x 10 cm: Water absorption will be less than 10% in solid blocks with no partition.
How to make Hollow Blocks?
- Manufacturing process of hollow locks are given below.
- Find a Favorable Area: Find a wide-open area, or better if shaded, that will work if there is less rain in your area. The space should be wide enough to mix the concrete and pour it into the mold.
- Make the mold: Use wood and nails to make an open-sided box with an inner core of 300mm (length) x 200mm (width) x 150mm (large). This is about the normal size of a brick.
- Prepare concrete mix: Find a container as large, as large as possible in your work area. You will need cement, sand, stones and water to make the concrete mix. Put cement, sand, and beads in a bowl in a ratio of 1: 2: 3. Start mixing the water in the container and stir the mixture continuously with a stick. Pour in the water until the concrete mixture is thick enough to drain the mold.
- Making a green concrete block: Pour the concrete mixture into a mold, stir or shake the mold so that the concrete stays firmly in the mold and reaches large angles. Mix the concrete mixture evenly using a plywood board on the open surface of the mold. Measure the open area smoothly using a plywood board on it.
- Healing: A concrete block needs to be molded for 24 hours to dry. Then remove the concrete block from the skin and place it in a water tank for treatment. The treatment process will provide the necessary pressure and will take about two weeks.
- Marketing and sales: Once you have enough block numbers you can place an ad in a local newspaper and build a website related to your service.
